I also have a relatively slow system ( P4- 2.8C, 1 GB, 9800Pro ), and
can understand the OP's predicaments. None of this year's titles are
playable on my video card.
I wanted to upgrade my video card too but I personally find the costs
of 7600GT, x800xt, etc. to all be too high to justify the slight
framerate increases on an already obsolete AGP platform.
You'd be getting more than a "slight framerate increase" - you'd
actually be able to play modern games.
