I would guess he means free as in the fact that most of them are
pretty generic games, of which there are about 100,000 other versions.
A game like Bejeweled is pretty much a dime a dozen. Popcap's version
of the 'put 3 things in a row and they disappear' is one with
relatively high production values, but 15 seconds with Google will
turn up 100 freeware versions of the same basic game.
"Free" of course being Flash-based games mostly.
On the SP forums, someone decided to download all the games (demos actually, but they're identical to the full versions bar a 60 minute limitation), and did a review of all. The reviews are OK, but what's more useful are the Flash-based alternatives (which are free) that he gives for most of the games.
