Re: (OT) Thunderbird

Finally got round to loading it back up - I quite like the new version but have rediscovered the thing I really hated about it last time and am hoping someone can advise. I read a number of groups and crossposts have to be read repeatedly. OE for all it's faults marks a thread read in all groups once I've read it in one. Is there a way of getting TB to do this?

I'd be also interested in this, besides a bunch of other flaws that worked fine with OE but don't with Thunderbird.

Sadly I'm informed in the alt.fan.mozilla group that this is not yet possible but there was talk of including it in TB 2

Like messages sorted as threaded by reference, or alphabetical newsgroup listing, or to be able to use more than just one keyword in the newsgroup subscribe search window, or a search function that just jumps to the next message that fits instead of hiding all messages that don't fit etc. Or why the hell is "answer to newsgroup" not the first item in the context menu when right-clicking on a newsgroup posting but has to be third (after "open in new window" and "reply to sender")?

Though I've used TB before I'm afraid I never delved into it's workings. I'm still relatively new to it and to the above I have to say 'no idea'.

Sadly, Thunderbirds data are much easier to backup and to transfer than with OE so at the moment I have no alternative. This is supposed to get better with Windows Mail, though, and if that's true I abandon Thunderbird as soon as possible.
