No, I'm relaying my own experiences and I don't really think putting
it up on a webpage legitimizes it any more than typing it here. There
were many complaining about similar experiences in this very group at
the time. I'm basing my assessment of waning dislike based on the
fact that there are fewer anti-steam rants on this group of late. I
wasn't able to activate my copy of HL2 until 10 days after I bought it
(I bought the retail version, 1 day after the release date -- stores
get new games on Tuesday, I usually pop in on Wednesdays to see what's
new). I tried activating twice a day during that period, as I really
wanted to play that game, so I'd have known if the server issues were
resolved earlier than that. You can choose to not believe me, but
that doesn't make it any less true.
I'm not saying you're lieing, but I bought HL2 at a store. When it came to
validating the files it said the servers are busy, but it said it would let
me play the game. The next day it validated the files without any problems.
But yeah, if I had any troubles then I would be royally pissed.
