I may end up standing myself corrected in this. I've had a few peopleNote the recommended - 512MB 3D Accelerator, and 9.9 GB Free DiskThat just makes it a bigger pile of ***. The controls absolutely suck
Space!!! Holy Crap!
Looks like this thing may actually come on two DVD roms! Thank God
they
didn't decide to put it on 12 or 13 CD's!!!
rocks :(
I can't believe the developers haven't sorted out the control issue
after
the last TR fiasco.
tell
me I've evidently misplaced a control MODE or two... I'll get back into it
and see.
It was unfair of me to say the whole thing stunk. it doesn't. on my
system
it does look pretty, but at a dx8 level, on parr with PS2 grade meshes and
textures. and the audio is excellent.
I doubt there is anyone who wants this game to work well more than I do.
I'm a PC Tombraider die hard from the beginning.
more on this later...

Ok, Gramps time for more of that thar Geritol. May calm you down a
bit.
We all know that you have a bleedin' edge system. However, great
graphics and great gameplay do not necessarily go together... Oblivion
an obvious recent exception. So, now let's hear more from you on
gameplay and less on the graphics....PLEASE ! Dx8 or less games can be
totally immersive, because the graphics FLUIDITY ( not polygon-count
or particle effects) and the sheer gameplay just draw you in. An
excellent example is AvP2 run on a modern machine. Or HL1, for that
matter. Not all of us spend our times playing action-games with our
noses pressed to the screen marvelling at the perfection of the AA and
counting pixels. Decent frame-rate and DX8 graphics is fine by me
in an action-game with a gripping storyline.
I am a big Tomb Raider fan also, since TR1 and its 3dfx patch.
Gave up on the last few, since the developers ran out of new ideas.
I have not downloaded TR:L demo, so please tell me how it compares
to the early TR classics. Any new ideas or just more jumping
puzzles ?

It IS Lara and Tombraiding. No doubt about that. It IS different from
every other TR game PERIOD. Lara looks great, the world looks good, this
Lara 'fits' that world seamlessly, perfect. Controls and gameplay are
geared toward the consolers. It doesn't have quite the depth of
interaction, the feeling of *being there* that TR1 does. I play it with
GliDOS btw.
Lara has a few new moves. She's missing a couple now. ALL notwithstanding;
it can still be immersive. There is some combat, there is some exploring,
there is puzzle solving. But these puzzles are on a pretty big scale. It's
impressive. There are still traps and spikes and I've gotten the poor girl
killed more than I like to think. It *appears* to use the HAVOK character
physics. Lara flowed downhill quite gracefully when I dropped her off a
cliff this morning. Once you get adjusted to the new controls scheme and
the way they play out, it's fun.
Even though I detest consoley controls, I'm still playing the demo and
having fun. So there is decent gameplay, if on a lighter note than say tr1.
In Tombraider, I felt as though *I* were out there, me and Lara, alone,
exploring the whole world. And in block graphics at that. So, right,
pretty doesn't make for gameplay.
Legend seems to be all about story. I am eager to get the full game, even
though I hate consolitis with a passion, I want to play this game :)
There is more to it than you see on the surface. I think it will come on 2
DVD's too.
