|Hate to piss on your dream a little, but that power supply is a bit
|underwhelming. With the 7800GTX and multiple drives you may want to
shell
|out a few extra bucks and get at least a quality 500w, preferably a 550w.

I agree.. I was just about to say this as well. Go for the HIGH quality
500W+
PS. $100-150.
I got the highest quality PS (brand) off the shelf locally I could find at
the time, and I've ordered a 500W+ one, either Thermaltake or Antec will
keep me happy. Should have it by next weekend.
Asus Mobo?
I prefer more recent Gigabyte mobos for sheer stability, reliability. I
like Asus and Abit also, and (SOYO) Shuttles too. I am not planning any
OC'ing for this stuff. Maybe when it's been replaced a couple years down
the road, but not for a while.
Oh. and you can bump down XP from PRO to HOME with no serious lost of
functionality.
Nope, already own two boxes of the Pro full retail. I buy the XP Homes for
the kids systems. The only OS I bought 'special' for this one is XP Pro
x64 OEM. This will be a multiboot system.
Another tip.. Its better to grow into the purchase then go out of it in a
few
months. OVERBUY on purpose and you'll thank yourself later. ;)
I have done that as much as my money and parts availability have allowed me
to :)
I'd rather have had the 7800GTX 512, but they dried up fast :( I had to
settle on the 7800GTX 256 meg card instead. I thought of and asked around
about a new Radeon X1900XTX (a 512meg card) but found two suppliers with
folks on a 3 week wait list I'd be at the bottom of. Nup! Want something
asap!
