Hello Scott,
If you're open to a commercial option we have a product called the iSeries
Office Integrator that can be used to launch remote programs from the
iSeries, perform MS Word mail merges and more.
This should work with NLynx or any other TN5250 client such as CA/400.
We also have a version that should run fine on V4R3.
Please contact me directly off-list if interested in arranging for a demo
version.

I have a client running V4R3. For emulation they use the ES/TCP
product from NLynx. I want to write a program that brings up a text
file in Notepad on their PC, something I have done before for other
clients. But much to my dismay, I've found that the ES/TCP client
does *not* support PCO. I contacted NLynx and they confirmed this but
said they could do it for a fee. They claimed it had "never come up
before". Meh. I've inquired about the fee, but I'm sure it will be
more than my client is willing to pay.
This client has been using this emulation product for a very long
time, so I won't try to get them to switch to Client Access or any
other product that supports PCO. Given that, is there any way to
launch a Windows app from an emulation session? If I understand
RUNRMTCMD correctly, it would require installing software on each
user's PC... something that I would like to avoid if at all possible.
So am I at a dead end, or have I overlooked another solution?
