Again: What's in the routing table on the AS400 ?

Thanks Terrence and others. I added the router to 192.168.1.8 but the
ping still does not happen. I even re-ipled the as400. I do have a
cisco soho router I can use. I just have not had the need to connect
it since the linksys sr41 was working well.

Here is my config info:

as400, 170, v5r1

Everything is working, but I cannot ping the pc from the as400.

Can you ping the PC from any other PC? Perhaps it's set not to answer
to ping. As I remember Win2000 without some network services selected
at install does not.

I can client access from the PC to the as400 and the as400 tells me
its ip address is 192.168.1.8. Which matches of course with what
ipconfig displays on the PC.

The as400 is 192.168.1.160. I can ping it from the pc.

The as400 can ping the linksys router. Its ip addr is 192.168.1.1.

command netstat on the AS/400.
Menu 2: Is there only a DFTROUTE to the router or anything else?
Menu 1: Do you have a proper subnet mask like 192.168.0.0 or
192.168.1.0? The router would be found by DFTROUTE even if there is
something wrong here.

Can you ping the AS/400 from the AS/400?

Walter

ok, since I started this ...

I have a home office setup. In one room is a PC, the 400 and a dlink
mini hub. In the other room is a PC, a linksys router, a dsl modem
and another dlink mini hub. The equipment in each room is networked
to the mini hubs and then the two hubs are up linked ( there is a
switch on the bottom of the hub ) to each other.

room1:
linksys router: 192.168.1.1
w2k pc#1: 192.168.1.3

room2:
w2k pc#2: 192.168.1.8
as400: 192.168.1.160

there is a zone alarm firewall on pc#1. it has been turned off. no
firewall on the other equipment.

I just fired everyone up and start pinging:
the 400 can ping out of the network to the internet
the 400 can ping itself
the 400 can ping the router
the 400 cannot ping pc#1 or pc#2
pc#2 can ping the as400, the router and the internet
pc#2 cannot ping pc#1 ????
pc#1 can ping everything ( Pc#2, as400, router, the internet )

I could blame the problem on the 400 because it cannot ping either PC.
But I cant explain why one PC can ping the other, but not the other
way around!

The only reason I am doing this is because I cannot get RUNRMTCMD to
work from 400 to PC. So whatever, thanks for the help.
