I sent the spool to IBM support, it was a simle SCS spooled file that I was able
to copy with CPYSPLF without no warning message it had all "Unit requirements"
attributes set to N, the API was able to convert up to some page, page 6 out of
19, then spopped adding a problem in problem management and doing a dump. The
same spooled file copyed *fcfc and copyed back to a spool file is converted
succesfully. IBM support said I had to pay to debug even if a QWPZHPT1 bug would
be found. It was V4.4 OS400, now it's V5.3 and the bug is still there. I agree
that's not a blocking bug, as it happens just 1/1000 times, but it's still
there. If you want to check see PMR 62089 about 2 years ago.
I also have had many customer complain about this with HPT printers and using software that uses the HPT API. It just stops processing at around 3-6 pages. These are not unique reports. Similar reports work just fine. They are *SCS plain text. The only thing I could think of is if there was some bad data in the report somewhere, but I never found any (must be that CPYSPLF removed the bad data if there was any).
Between this and the HTTP server getting messed up every release, we're kept pretty busy. :)
