Using Bradley V. Stones books I have been able to write several web applications, including an order entry system, using CGI. I will be using SSL for the Credit Card entry screen and have used a temp Verisign cert. to make sure everything is working properly. I get a "Security Alert" message when I use the SSL with the warning being "The name on the security certificate does not match the name of the site.". Verisign says the solution involves the "Common Name" of the certificate not matching the configuration of my website. I am not exactly sure what value I need to load into the certificate at the time I purchase it. Is it what appears in the URL at the exact time I need the SSL? The URL at the time I need SSL would look something like this, "http://999.888.777.666:12345/cgi-bin/checkout". Or is simply a value on the iSeries that needs to match a value in the certificate?
There are no dumb questions right?
That's not a dumb question at all!
Most of the time this means that the common name on the certificate should match the domain name of the web site.
I'm sure Verisign could also give you more in depth details on this. .
