Especially since it is for display on a TINY screen. If I remember
right, the GPS sat positions don't change a whole lot, correct? So if
I code something up will it still be "mostly correct" in a year or
two? I know I'd need the ability to turn off broken sats, but that
isn't a big issue really.

The orbital period of a GPS sat is ~ 11 hr 58 min, so from one day to the
next there would be little difference on the 50g screen. But at 4 min. per
day it wouldn't be long before positional discrepancy became apparent.
