I have 173 objects in port 2. Although that isn't killer,
it is an annoying number to manually copy.
Select first 99 (then later the rest)
by holding down ENTER in Filer, press COPY,
and for "already exists" confirmation say "All"
(copying now proceeds as fast as any program can go).
Been there, done that, bought the T-shirt. Like I said it's not killer,
but a one step operation would be a nicety.
Should I modify one and wish to back it up at a
later date, an automated total backup is nice.
A *total* backup for copying just one item is nice?
For my setup, yes. It wouldn't take long, and I wouldn't have to keep
notes reminding myself which objects I had modified.
What if I forget which one I modified?
I always save the trouble, and copy to flash and SD
at the same time (actually, files coming from my computer
are transferred via SD in the first place, so they are
already backed up, and I make other archives using
consecutive numbers, also copying right away to SD,
so I never forget, and never need "total backup" :)
I rarely use the computer, and so I back up to my SD card. Should
something happen in the field, I restore from my SD card. All object
modifications are obviously done in the home directory and ports. Would
be nice to back it all up to the SD card at the touch of a button, and
not have to manage the operation. No big deal, it would just be a
nicety.
In that case an automated total backup is my best
and quickest option.
Well, it's also slowest,
compared to copying only modified things,
as soon as first modified (or tested).
True, but a security blanket for safety's sake would be nice, to save
us from those senior moments :-).
Now I need an auto-restore!
And I need an autopilot :)
Oh, now that would be tight! USB or RS232?
