Re: Source-code editing and a QWERTY HP... (very long)

Hello,

most efficient way is to write *and* compile programs on the PC,
then download the binary only;-)

Certainly the compiled object file will be smaller, and the
calculator won't have to spend any time translating characters or
compiling the file; it will simply have to check that it indeed
seems to be a valid object for the particular model.

But wouldn't I have the extra steps of copying the source file to
an emulator and the binary file out of it? So is it really more
efficient?

Also, the emulator itself may have problems importing very large
source files, so stripping comments and extra white space in the
text editor first may still be useful.

Of course, one could write the source file in the emulator itself,
so gaining the advantage (over a real calculator) of being able to
use a QWERTY keyboard for genuine ASCII characters, but otherwise
that seems to have all of the disadvantages of writing it on a
real calculator. The emulator is okay, but the few times that I've
tried using it, it seems like I've had to keep switching to using
the mouse frequently; I find it easier to just use the calculator
itself, or, as long as a PC is available, easiest to use a text
editor for complicated programs.
