unfortunately, no, the time nessecary to place 50 alpha type keys in the
product is much greater, and can be the cause of way more errors than
having
a key grid.

Yeah. What he said was that each key would have a little tiny thin
peice to keep them together in the correct order, then when it breaks
the first time
you press the key it would break the little thin peice (you could even
design a stress point that would make it break cleanly in exactly the
same spot. . . someone seems to be good at designing stress points
already apparently ;-)

So you'd have one peice when it is put in, the little barrels in the
key hinge would line up, be locked in place during assembly, and there
would be no more problems with breaking keys.

Do you want a 3d rendering to pass on to someone? I can whip it
together in a few minutes. I'm sure lots of us here have come up with
several ways to fix the keys by now. I know I've thought of at least 3
valid solutions.

Another idea. Just BIND THE STUPID KEYS TO A THIN RUBBER MEMBRANE
UNDERNEATH. If they are attached to a membrane, they won't go anywhere
even if the plastic breaks. You would probably not even notice if they
break. Done correctly, you'd still have the same key feel as before
but no possibility of rattling teeth.

I like the idea combining Tim's & manjo's ideas
Also an automated test tool could pre-break the assembled key membrane
I don't understand why all this so <sensored> hard for HPQ & Kinpo
Thick skulls? Bone through and through?
ALSO
Every model should have the ROM Flashable
regardless of UserFlash or not
It's much easier to fix bugs using the USB
(and real RS-232C, thank you)
and a PC than eg. recalling the hp 48gII

What is good is that we have ->KEYTIME KEYTIME-> back

Now fix the Alarm system for good!!
it's almost there...95% of bugs fixed, just a few more
and you have a genuine HP calc (instead of ....)

.
