Not the way it's looking from my office.

I take it by "intellectual chauvinists" you mean any of us who's standard of
grammar is equal to or greater than that of the average 6 year old, and who
gives a damn (which you obviously don't).

I judge the performance, not the performer.

"unappointed guardian of newsgroups"? "protect it from the likes of those
who would
use poor grammar or spelling when posting"? "superheroes of
the past, his mission is to ferret out evil spellers, syntax abusers,
and given them their due"? Buddy, you've lost the plot completely. I've
given up trying to get accross to you that all I've ever asked for was some
basic grammar - it seems that your over-active imagination is creating the
rest of your little "alternate reality". Go back and read my original post -
what did I say - let me quote it to you, in the vain hope that it'll
increase your comprehension of it a little ...

"I don't wish to appear disrespectful, and I appreciate that nobody expects
perfect grammar on Usenet, but is the occasional paragraph break, full stop,
or capital letter in the appropriate places too much to askfor, out of
respect for your reader?"

I politely stated that I did NOT wish to appear disrespectful - I
acknowledged that nobody expects perfect grammar on usenet - and I asked if,
out of respect for the intended readers, that the occasional paragraph
break, full stop, or capital letter in the appropriate places too much to
ask for. I concluded by passing my kindest regards. Nothing arrogant -
nothing disrespectful. And then you - uninvited - embark upon your one man
fantasy "free speech" crusade accusing me of being arrogant - egotistical -
a one man spelling and grammar policeman / guardian of the newsgroups,
complete with superheroes. Geeeeez - get a grip.

If you comprehend them - and keeping in mind that they're all still there
for your ready reference, then why do you keep trying to make me out as the
unappointed spelling/grammar guardian of the news groups, when all I keep
saying is "I'm asking for a little basic grammar"? Christ almighty - as I've
said in post number 1 (quoted above) I'm the first to acknowledge the fact
that nobody expects perfect grammar - which part of this is in any way
unclear to you?

And I stand by my experience that being accepting of grossly poor creations
helps neither us nor them. You think I'm kidding? - guess what - I actually
get people like this sending in CVs written to about the same standards,
seeking employment in the IT industry. Guess what again - they go straight
into the shredder. If this is the standard of their work, then they're not
going to be working for my company. Why do they submit crappy CVs? - the
short answer is, they're lazy - they're undisiplined - and they don't care
about themselves or others. Trust me - mollycoddling them under whatever
guise you care to defend their "alphabet soup" under doesn't do them any
favours in the long run.
