P2015 font dimms

My font dims arrived yesterday, and the local printer is upgraded and working fine. Zero charge .
I hope the rest of Australia now follows suit and gets into these as needed.
Now to try the same for the 28x0 family printers....anybody know anything useful here please?
thanks,
john

I used this web site to order a repair kit to solve an "accordion" paper
feed problem on my HP LaserJet 4+. They sent all the replacement parts and a
very good DVD showing the repair process steps. It worked very well.

We had a couple of P2015s before we found out they would only do courier
fixed pi t ch on the 3000,which meant we couldn't use them for several
documents that were built using pcl5e code.

Then I found out through the list that there was a Dimm that fixed this
condition. I finally found a local source and bought one to test(A$106), and
it worked fine. When I went back to order more, they advised that HP was
having big difficulties supplying anything much at all lately, and not to
hold my breath. Separately, and fortuitously, I was cold called by an hp rep
here in Oz about possible laptop purchases , so I gave him a blast about
this issue, and he has come through, as below and attached - 3 free Dimms on
the way!

So if anybody else has this issue, get on the case , and dont let go. Along
the way, researching on the web I found references to HP printer issues on
www.fixyourprinter.com<http://www.fixyourprinter.com> (or similar)....seem
to be a lot of things not going well there....

Regards,

John Pitman

Nick,
The document describes EXACTLY what my problem is - "Font issues with SAP
and legacy PCL5e applications", so whats the issue with getting some of the
chips? We need 1 more here in Australia, and 2 for printers in our China
operation please. The one unit I have found so far has fixed one unit
here, but i am having trouble finding any more....

Hi John,

The product managers got back to me with the following:

"If you have any customers wanting to do a firmware update on the P2015,
make them aware that they will have to install a dimm for the update. We
need to order it from an HP internal website and have it delivered to the
customer. Instructions are attached. There is currently no software
firmware update for the P2015."

I have taken note of the same. I passed on what you told me yesterday to my

Nick,

just to update the queries I raised with you yesterday:

P2015 printers DONT handle PCL 5 properly due to very small font list -
defaults to Fixed pitch Courier, which means we cant use them for forms
work. Note that we are NOT printing to these from Windows, but from a HP3000
N series , running MPE/ix 7.5 - NOT Unix!!

In USA HP supply font chip CB456-67901 free, ( superceded by CE517-67902,)
and I have been told of P2015s being sold on EBAY in USA with chip included..
My reseller (Was Emcorpit , now Murdock-webster technology) was told by HP
these chips are not available in Australia, but I have already bought one
from EMPR.com.au, with 2 more on order.

P2830 and P2840 printers have the same problem, but I dont know if there is
a font chip for these, or if the same chip as the 2015 will work.

Thanks,

Regards,

John Pitman
