I have search thru the register and cleaned up stuff with regedit and
Voila(a string instrument) I had to reload XP the register was
destroyed.
Be careful with regedit...
Further:
I have no use for a person who can only spell a word one way!
Just because Webster is published does not mean his spelling is any
better then(hehe) mine.
Things were better before he published the dictionary; Webster did it to
be like the French. Spelling was more phonetic(foenetik) witch maid it
more readable.

Yes! the Internet is wonderful! I found this problem detailed with
a suggested fix: Ran regedit using the New Task option - found the
first key, but not the second. Deleted it - rebooted, and Voila!
Have the icons back, Start menu - everything appears to be working
fine. In case this ever happens to you- I suggest trying this:
Bad keys in registry - delete these keys:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Image
File Execution Options\explorer.exe
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Image
File Execution Options\iexplorer.exe
Once these keys are deleted the desktop and internet explorer should
come back to life. Thank you whoever found this information and I
hope this will be a benefit to someone else out there.

Hello List,
One of our PC's woke up this morning, with a blank desktop. It's
running Windows XP Professional - all the files are there, I can
access programs from the DOS window, but no start bar, no icons, (not
even in Safe mode). Right-click does not work. And of course, no
repair CD or rescue disk.
A Google search reveals that others have had this problem. I
attempted to run Explorer.exe but I get a message that it cannot be
found. However, a DIR does show the program.
Any ideas?
