Re: UPS serial port

Thanks for your suggestions Lars.

I had already completed them all - including ensuring that the "Y" indeed was indicated on the UPS screen of the DTS UPS port path in NMMGR.

Two reboots, a DTC power reset (though I don't think that was necessary) and many UPSUTIL restarts later, UPSUTIL status is still showing the UPS port being "Down/Broken".

I now realize that the port being owned by the system is as it should be.

I'm wondering if it could be the serial cable. It is actually the correct one (part no. -wise). Are the ends symmetrical or does it matter which end attached to which side?

Gilles,

no, I don't think that the issue is with SYSGEN and NMMGR
config being present. I actually seem to recall that it is
the way to be configured, so that system process #1 can use
it and knows an appropriate baud rate.

I vaguely recall that in some default configs the NMMGR page
for the UPS device was lacking a Y(es) somewhere in a field
that indicates "config saved" or somesuch. That was fixed by
pressing Enter there, re-validating NMCONFIG and restarting
either just the DTS subsystem (DTCCNTRL options 4 and 5) or
the whole system.

It might also be sufficient to try restarting the UPS monitor
process with "restart" in UPSUTIL. Oh, when trying to restart
the DTS subsystem, you will likely need to stop the UPSUTIL
monitor process as well as all serial spoolers and DTC sessions
and restart them after DTCCNTRL.

Just a few thoughts from fairly dim memory.

Lars.
