The LVD-SCSI DDS4 is capable of talking SE-SCSI AND we never tested this in
the MPE lab with the NIO systems like the S918. Though DDS device firmware
has been remarkably compatible across generations I do know of tweaks that
were due to device behaviour differences through the years.
DDS3 HP tested and HP supported with MPE
DDS4 not HP tested and not HP supported with S918.
It's your data.
Of course in any case a sound stratagy for back-ups is required including
but not limited to VSTOREs (and test RESTOREs) as well as good Media
handling (device cleaning, media archive and replacment) procedures.

considering a dds5 drive. does this come in a SE interface that can slide
