Re: How to stop mirroring discs

That is the best/easiest way to ultimately do what you're trying to do and
doesn't
require much luck at all.

But still, good luck.

Walt,

Thank you so much for the answer.
I think we will take the 'easy' way and scratch the volumes and start over
with a new volume set.

Jim,

There is no supported (command driven) way to do what you ask. Depending
on
how fluent you are in debug and the disk layout, you would have to boot
with
only one half of the pair of volumes connected and change the disk
attribute
field on the disk and then zero out the MCB (Mirrored Control Block)
pointer.

Then shutdown and put the other pair of volumes online and reboot.
Scratchvol each and do a newset and vsclose on each from
Volutil/Mirrutil
and shutdown again.

Connect all your volumes and reboot and you should see your (old
mirrored)
volumes as non-mirrored and the other pair as newly named volumes that
you
could then vsclose, scratchvol and newvol to the previous volume set or
just
create another volume set.

Or just backup all your data (which you should have done anyway before
this
adventure) and vsclose, scratchvol and create a new volume set and
restore
your data.

I am wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction. We have
a
system that has mirrored discs. We would like to stop mirroring the
discs
and recover the use of all the discs.

Naturally, the Mirrored Disk/iX manual does not specifically provide an
example to do this (at least I did not find one).

Thanks for your help.
