Wireless problem with Touchsmart

My daughter has an HP Touchsmart NB computer. They were visiting this weekend and were able to hook up to our wireless network just fine. Today she called me and was having trouble connecting to their own network. After a little detective work, I was able to figure out that she is missing her wireless network connection as in:
Control Panel - Network Connections - Advanced Settings
On my laptop when I get this far I see two boxes, one of which has the following:
Local Area Connection
Wireless Network Connection
Remote Access Connection
Her machine is missing the middle one. She says that the light for her wireless connection turns on, so I am assuming this is a software thing. Can someone guide us through the steps to get the "wireless network connection" restored?
TIA
