All done, thanx for the input, managed to identify the relevant hardware, SM
Bus controller was a bit vague but got it of fthe Intel site in the end,
their Chipset...
Why are HP so vague? used to always trust Compaq also, especially for
servers also. Much to be said for after sales service. Not a great fan of
Dell but have to say with there service TAG system, you get exactly what you
need... No long hours of trawling various manufactures sites, it works. FIN
Anywho all sorted, thanx again 4 input.
Turns out it was an NVDIA Ge Force 7500 LE Display Adapter
Realtek Audio Card onboard
SM Bus driver Asus/Intel P5LP-LE motherboard
and NOT Any of the below. T3717.fr try and find that on the HP download
site...

System specs for the T3000's, apparently sold only in Europe:
Intel 915 motherboard chipset
Realtek ALC880 audio
Realtek RTL8101L 10/100 Ethernet
VIA Fire IIM VT6307 Firewire
nVidia Geforce 6200 video card
Well, those are the specs for the HP Pavilion t3040.uk.
The t3000.de uses a different motherboard, so...
SiS760/SiS964 motherboard chipset
Realtek ALC658C audio
Realtek RTL8101L 10/100 Ethernet
VIA Fire IIM VT6307 Firewire
Integrated video, which means some sort of SiS video
The specs for the Asustek Leonite, exact HP Pavilion model unknown, are:
Intel 945 motherboard chipset
Intel GMA 950 integrated video
Intel 82562V 10/100 Ethernet
Agere LFW3226 firewire
Realtek ALC888 audio
Assuming that the latter is what you have, of course HP has no drivers on
its
web site, which really does suck.
Yea, it only takes about 2 minutes to find drivers for a Leonite MB.
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareList?os=2093&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&product=3369459
The web site AND HP's product naming
nomenclature also suck because HP gives the same general product line
name
(e.g.
Pavilion 3000-series) to systems with widely different motherboards.
Talk
about
confusion. But, then, in my experience, HP is not a company friendly to
consumers. They simply want to sell product, and walk away. Long-time
HP
fans will, of course, disagree with this characterization, as well Hurd
and the rest of HP management.
So you have to go to the web sites of the chipset manufacturers and
download
their "reference" drivers for your operating system. The reference
drivers are no different that what HP or any other name brand company
would provide.
Semi-finally, install the motherboard chipset drivers first, just after
installing Windows, and then install the other drivers. Everything else
in the motherboard depends on the chipset drivers for correct operation.
Finally, if your system has a PCI-Express video card, remove it to see
the
manufacturer and the chipset. Some markings on the card will give a
clue.

I have a HP Pavilion T3000, it is about 16 months old. Hard drive died,
installed new HD but have been unable to identify all the components. No
OEM disks!!The motherboard is a ASUSTeK/Intel Leonite. So far I been able
to identify the NIC (Intel PRO/100 VE). But there are three other devices
that I can not Identify. SM Bus controller and onboard sound card and PCI
Video controller. Any ideas how I can progress with this and get the
drivers.... The HP site sucks big time.
