IPAQ pocket PC looses everything when battery runs down

Hi,
I have a HP iPAQ 4100 series with Pocket PC 2003. I have put TomTom onto it
and it works fine but when I don't use it for a week or so (The ipaq) the
battery seems to go completly dead and when I start to charge it up again
and turn it on I seems to have lost all the programs and settings that I had
added including TomTom Navigator. I am then unable to find it but when I go
to load TT on again I am told that it already exists and do I want to
overwrite. No I don't but on the other hand I cann't seem to get it to work
without a complete install.
Any thoughts so that I don't have to keep reinstalling would be greatly
appreciated.
