How you figure? That's just one, unless a line driver is needed for 3v
logic.
I was thinking about others that might want to use it. They would be hard pressed to give up their RS232 port for this, unless someone patched all the SW to use the alternate solution.
And, less functionality. user port is a precious commodity.
Its been a bit of a spare tire for me ... I've always had more
contention for the cartridge port. Getting a full speed UART, RAM
buffer, access to Sony Playstation controllers and the cartridge port
still clear ... that'd be enough for me.
