I inherited my RL and an FD 4000 before Maurice Randall bought
out the CMD business. I have since sold the FD4K and only posess
an RL. IIRC, both had the same 9 volt, 1 amp power supply. I can't
say why the power specifications may have changed along the way.
My first guess is that a supply of cheaper 9 Volt supplies became
available. There could be more fundamental reasons for the change.
