Hello everyone! Me and Andrew Wiskow were sitting here tonight
trying to figure out how to get the game mods to work on the COLOR 64
V8.0 and got nowhere. Apparently whenever we try to create a new mod,
after it tries to initialize, it gives us a data error of some sort
and throws us back to the bbs again.

Furthermore, I am fidgiting with the notion of possibly running my
BBS with my SUPERCPU and I saw no mention of how to do this in the
manual and I was wondering how would I go about doing it (AS I KNOW
IT'S POSSIBLE).

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks a lot!

Are you and Andy "writing" mods... or trying to install more than the
BBs has now.. ??

In the older versions of Color64, there was limit of how many Mods you
could run, if I remember right and depended on hardware... not sure of
Color V 8.0 though. You might just have to tell the BBs to add more
Mods than it "thinks" it can handle. It's been a while since I
logged into The Cottonwood BBs, so Im not sure what all Andrew has
running right now.

I ran C*base BBs after trying Color for a while, because of the
problems I ran into with Color Mods...
Color was such a popular BBs, a lot of Mods that were out there had
"bugs", because EVERYONE was writing them..... a few times, I would
just edit a "working mods boot" file, to use to load a different game,
than it was intended for. ( the fossil driver )

What is the error you guys get ??? and what is the game(s) ??

Rick

I "booted" it up and got to the main "waiting fr call" screen. then I
hit "F1" to go into the menu mode then again hit "F1" to enter "LOCAL
MODE." Then I typed in my name and password and got the main welcome
screen. Went into the "?" screen for the "SYSOP MENU." Then I hit "G"
to access the online game MOD'S (which doesn't exist cause I haven't
successfully created it yet). Then it goes into the "ENTERING MODULE
MENU" mode where I am given 2 options <either "?" to enter the mod
menu, or Return to exit>. So I choose "?." it tells me that I have
7428 bytes free and reasks the same question again so I quit.
Now after reading the manual I am supposed to type in a SHIFTED @ KEY
which will give me a "check." That is "supposed" to do something but
does not. So lets try it....

Ok, the first time I hit the check key, it told me the following:

"Device Not Present Error 5540:check symbolbbs.ov2"

It reset itself and rebooted the BBS.....

Then it said " File Data Error4630:check symbolbbs.ov2"

So it seems fairly obvious to me that something inside the bbs.ov2
program isn't sitting right in one or both of those lines. With that
being said, I am running the BBS off a CMD HD and a SUPERCPU and it's
VERSION 8.0.

Any ideas?

Thanks a lot for the help! :):):):)

the mod is looking in the wrong place for the loader ....... you
either have it in the wrong partition ( or that partition is not setup
right) or it is looking at the quick load Ram Link for the mod/and or
data base of players.

I would almost bet, the mod your trying to run, was written to run off
a floppy drive ( like drive 11 or something) and isnt looking for a
hard-drive partition command..... or wants to store the database/
scores on a floppy drive that doesnt exist..

P.S. Also === (if I remember right) the Check-mark files in Color
are considered "system" files and have to be on the Flippie side, of
the boot disk. Is sysbolbbs.ov2 on the disk ( or partition) where
the "other" check files are ???

Well as I mentioned previously, I am running it "DIRETLY OFF MY HD"
which is Device # 9 Part #4..... So what I do is type: " @#9 <CR>
@cp4 <CR> UP ARROW +BBS <CR>" and that's what I am doing.

It appears to work ok running the BBS, but it won't reconize any of
the MOD'S that way for some reason r another. Either way I don't get
it as ALL SYSTEM FILES ARE ON PART #4!!! So they "SHOULD" be running
smoothly along with all the other files that are on the HD for the
BBS, but they don't. So I'm perplexed over it.
