Certainly, if they have a failing 1581, they'll buy a new or reasonably new
condition 1581 if possible.

Thats sounds reasonable, but if it's true then I can't understand why
there is such an uproar over Maurice Randall...obviously a LOT of people
are interested in the hardware that he is supposedly selling, and
judging by the prices CMD hardware goes for on Ebay and what used 1581
drives sell for I would have to disagree with your statement. I think
that a lot of Commodore users would LOVE to buy new neat hardware for
their machines, it's just that there is no one producing it at a
reasonable price...they have absolutely no realistic option to buy it.
Honestly I feel like there is a huge opportunity for the hardware
hackers out there in this regards.
