I need to use my old C64 to collect some hardware data though the SP

I don't have a disk drive or a modem for either machine. I do have
a datasette, but my memory is that the tape protocols of the two
machines are incompatible. Does anyone remember for sure?

I also have one User Port card edge connector.

I was thinking I could maybe transfer directly between the two user
ports as 8N1 transmissions (as though there were modems there).
Would that work? Just Data and GND?

Any other ideas?

How bout using the PC as a Server... lots of good programs out to do
that, if you can use a soldering iron.

What exactly is wrong with the Plus ??? the 6526 controlls a lot of
stuff.
