With my Internal PCI modem the top speed I could connect to my ISP was
56K ( also THIER max speed allowed for dial-up customers ) but NOW
with the External modem I am connect at 115,000 K !!!!!!! ( the max
speed of my serial/com port on my win98 system)
I know my PCI bus is "spose" to be faster than a serial port..... but
does anyone have an idea how I am connecting at TWICE the speed of
that my modem is "spose" to be able to achive ??? not to mention my
ISP.
I think what Bud was trying to say was that your modem can talk to the
computer at one speed, while talking to your ISP's modem at a different speed
over the phone line. I think there is an AT command that will tell the modem
to report actual connection speed, but I don't remember what it is.
