1. are the chips socketed on the board or must I go therough
the tedious process of removing the old ships and installing
a socket and all that stuff????
It's common to find the 1571 firmware chip in the form of a programmed
EPROM. Socketed, of course.
2. Whats the id of the upgrade chip???
310654-05
Are the chips still available or does anyone have a few
available upgraded chips.
I can sell you as many as you wish, given I don't run out of EPROMs first.
:-)
If you have an EPROM burner, just grab the image from Funet and get yourself
an empty 27256.

Ricardo, thanks for your info. Glad that chip has to just be pulled
out and insert one of your epromed ones in its place. I dont go for
the other responders to the question about software work arounds etc.
I have thouroughly checked the formatting and readability of my one 1571
-05 version chip. And it does the 1328 format with ease just useing
the @"n:name,yu,hdn" cmd. But if I try it on any of the other 1571's
it just wont work. If after doing the above on the 05 version,
then trying the disk in any of the non upgraded ones it just shows
the uaual 600 blks not the 1328. So all those claims I saw from
others doing it via software sounds pretty invalid to me.
I dont have an eprom burner anymore so if you could create 3
-05 chips for me I will pay whatever you ask. Gimme any feedback
to jfenn@xxxxxxxx as my email addr is correct as shown on the
use groups. Thanks much.
