I said 'most Windows users', thus implying a partial mapping and not 'you use Windows so you're lazy'.

The complete idiocy of this statement shows just what kind of an
nonsensical jackass you are. Here's exactly what you said:

This is from someone who argues their point by resorting to vulgar language and insults. A clear case of Pot Kettle Black.

Certain distributions of Linux might be trying to become more Windows-like, but this is purely to cater to the typical Windows user, who after being spoon-fed throughout their Windows experience has great difficulty standing on their own two feet.

"Partial mapping" my rosey-red ass. You made a stupid, thoughtless,
arrogant, needless attack comment that's not even worthy of a
precocious pre-teenybopper trying to convince himself that his brand
of discount sneaker is just as good or better than everybody else's
Nikes. Not to mention that you are just plain *fucking* wrong.

At no point have you offered any evidence to contradict what I said. All you have offered are non-sequiturs and ad hominem attacks. Instead of using hostile language and character assassinations, why not try using logic, coherence and fact? Otherwise, there is nothing to suggest that you, in fact, are not just 'plain fucking wrong'. I mean, it could well be that you're an intelligent person capable of rational argument and discussion - but nothing you have said so far would suggest this.

And as for:

Well, I sincerely hope you put more thought into your living than this post otherwise I won't be flying any time soon.
and
Would it be a close ancestor likewise?

these lame attempts at pithy comebacks pretty much confirm the fact
that your wit matches your less-than-sparkling personality.

PKB.

Wale up, dip*** and realize that most people aren't
computer hobbyists or enthusiasts. The only way you can make Linux
function properly is to study the inner workings of the computer and
how to make it all work by using kernel-oriented command code.
That's complete bollocks. Wherever did you get the idea that a user can only make Linux work by hacking the kernel?

"Hacking the kernel?" How do you extrapolate the phrase "hacking the
kernel" from my phrase "using kernel-oriented command code"? Using
command code meaningful to the kernel is EXACTLY what you have to do
in Linux.

No. You either enter commands meaningful to the shell process or relevant to the GUI. The user interacts with any operating system several layers above and protected from the kernel. You might design jet engines for a living but you know precious little about the design of a robust operating system.

Clockmeister's whole goddamn point was that you don't need
to study ANY type of commands in Windows because of the GUI.

There are plenty of Linux distros that operate the same way.

I don't know... Maybe it's just beyond you. Nothing you have said so far suggests you have the vaguest idea.

In point of fact, you obviously don't have the vaguest idea about what
allows average people (i.e. "non geek-fucks such as yourself") to use
computers. Plug & Play, baby - that's the name of the game.

Or, plug and pray when Windows doesn't protect the system from a badly written driver.

And it's
not called "lazy" technology - it's called "intelligent" technology.
Let the damn computer do the nuts and bolts work so I can then use it
to accomplish actual mission-oriented work. This is also what
Clockmeister was talking about. You seem to think that the a company's
engineering department, accounting department, or
"big-department-name-here" department can just sit around waiting for
the Linux guy to try to track down a beta driver that someone in
Finland is writing that finally allows the computer to print lower
case letters.

Linux is incapable of printing lower case letters? WELL, I NEVER KNEW THAT. THANKS FOR POINTING IT OUT. I CAN'T BELIEVE I'VE WASTED MY TIME ON SUCH AN OBVIOUSLY PREHISTORIC OPERATING SYSTEM THAT DOESN'T EVEN PRINT IN LOWER CASE.

And in fact, if you really want to see Linux really
become something, then you best be working on a good GUI and
professionally produced and maintained hardware drivers for the
cutting-edge technology coming down the pipeline. You Linux people
keep trying to play catch-up by cludging together yesterday's software
and hardware advances and calling it "better" and "having a choice"
simply because you don't go through Microsoft. Bull***.

Device manufacturers are ultimately responsible for providing working drivers for their devices. Isn't it odd, however, that reverse engineered drivers written by volunteers on an operating system produced by volunteers ares more stable than those written for M$' closed source system?

Tell you what you do Mr. Smug "I'm A Real Man" Linux Smartguy - go to
a normal person's house, hand them a "free" Linux distro package and
tell them to send you an e-mail whenever they get it up and running.

Only if you promise to post from it thereafter.

That's my whole point Einstein - there WON'T BE any posting going on
AT ALL.

And that's precisely my point.

I will not further drag the group into the abyss of off-topic ugliness
and in fact I apologize for having let it go this far.

Lit: 'I want to have the last word'.
