What are the odds that someone could come up with a QLink terminal client for some other platform?
I'm thinking that the other older computer systems' users might enjoy the features. Atari 400/800, Apple ][, maybe CoCo and Spectrum... I mean, these are the systems that had 40-column color screens. If memory serves, they also have the same number of text rows (25), so the screen layout would be the same. The CoCo and Spectrum even have the graphics characters, though not the same wide variety as PETSCII.
Since we have gone to the trouble of reverse-engineering the QLink server code, after all, why not build new clients for machines that were contemporaries of the C64 but never had access to QLink?
At this point in time, I am NOT recommending that a client be written to support any operating system for the IBM PC. I am also not recommending any client for any of the 68000-based systems of the mid-80s, such as the Atari ST, Amiga, or Macintosh.
There is no need to write a client for the IBM PC. One has already been written. It is called AOL 1.0
