I thought it was about spamming c.s.c. but yeah, any 'unwanted'
advertisement sent to email is defined as spam. Same as with postal mail
spam which I agree with you and others on.

To Chris Ryan:
-------------------------------------------------
What defines 'unwanted' advertisement ? (targetted to Chris Ryan) It is ANY
advertisement sent to a person's email that is NOT wanted. If I understand
correctly, Chris Ryan is US based and any business that continues to spam a
persons email or postal mail after being requested not to send any more
spam, can be prosecuted. United States law does impose on US citizens and
businesses, even on the internet.

It is against the law in the United States. Businesses can be put to court
if the business is in the United States. If a US business in the US spams
people in the US, it's much easier for a lawsuit to be established. In cases
of a US business spamming someone outside the US, that can be trickier. It
depends on many factors which I won't go into but read about.

Alrighty, must have misunderstood what exactly this thread was about.

Me too. I haven't looked into Commodore Gazette too much. I won't find it
serious if it is like what you said. I will remain neutral for sake of not
seeing what the magazine looks like myself.

If it is anything like you said, there is good reasons why most of us aren't
subscribing. A) We already have the type in mags like RUN, Compute & Compute
Gazette. Most sceners don't need it. Most any decent coder already knows
hows to do it and can code much better than those type ins. B) We are
already scanning books like Jim Butterfield's ML for Beginners and other
books. So its available. So why pay for something we already know, or got.
C) Price.

So do I agree with you on the premise. As my rant indicated, a sucessful
publication must have something to offer to us that has some practical
usefulness and be at the right price for us to subscribe.
