This concerns VCRs and copy protection. The video tape for DIE HARD
is copy protected. The VCR has only composite, and COAXIAL port
output through channel 3 (and 4). The copy protection of the tape
prevented my computer TV tuner from recording the final credits of
the movie. I was able to record the "WEATHER OUTSIDE IS FRIGHTFUL"
audio by disconnecting the composite video lead from the tuner.
Copy protection must come through the video signal. I can't
disconnect the video signal when the tuner and VCR are connected
using a COAXIAL cable. From what little I know about it, S-VIDEO
cables may require significant modification to disconnect video and
copy protection. Pulling a composite video RCA plug is much easier.
