....Just the software that comes with it (the art package), and any you might
want to write yourself using the comms. info at the back of the manual :-) I
think Jeff Minter did basically this when he got his hands on the first
prototype. Its mainly of interest as a programmable GPU & framebuffer for
the tech oriented, or as an Atari curiosity piece. I wouldn't expect it to
be tremendously useful for the general user.

the million dollar question is, what software would actually take
advantage
of it ?

| Yes, it has been sitting unused for a very long time so it would be
better
| if somebody else gets a chance to play with it!

| The ParSec was designed to connect to a 2nd monitor, which was used for
| primary output. The ST could of course still output to its own display
so
| you had a dual-display setup (ST monitor for main dialog boxes etc. and
| ParSec for graphics and other appropriate menus/toolboxes if needed).
|
| The ParSec was responsible for all drawing to its own display of course.

|
| That is correct. The RS232 is one of the ParSec's own communication
ports
as
| it is effectively a computer in its own right, albeit one designed for
| drawing to a framebuffer.
|
| The VGA port however I think is an 'old' style one, and may need an
adaptor
| for a standard VGA monitor these days (Although that is from memory - I
| can't be sure about that now!).

|
| Yes, thats also correct. The enhanced version supported 256 colours from
a
| palette of 16.7M.
|
| > But the seller doesn't ensure that it works...
|
| Unfortunately not. It is untested. However it hasn't been messed with
since
| it was made, and came from the original company (ElmTech) so chances are
| good that it works. It is just unsold stock.
