Ok, you definately have a Ramrod board in your 130XE.

It is fully populated with 3 operating systems:
Omnimon
Omniview (80 column OS)
Standard XL/XE OS

The grey cable with the 3 position toggle switch is the only one that is
part of the Ramrod board. The switch connected to it allows you to select
which of the 3 OSs you want to use.

I have no idea what the other red wires and the other switch do. Probably
someone else in this group would know. One strange item is that it appears
that one of the 64K RAM banks has been removed. I see what look like
sockets installed there but no RAM chips in them.

When you say Omnimon, do you mean the Ramrod 3-OS board, or just the
Omnimon OS chip?

The Omnimon was just a ROM chip that replaced the XL OS ROM.

The Ramroad board pluged into the OS socket and then had a wire going to a
3
position toggle switch to allow you to select which of the 3 OS's to use.

There are no other wires than that one

I have on of these in my 130XE (and the original docs) and can take a
photo
for you.

Hi,

Was hoping someone could point me in the right direction. I have
a 130XE with an Omnimon XL installed. Some of the wires have come
loose. I was wondering if there is a install manual/schematic or if
some kind soul has a set of good quaility photos of thier 130xe
installation. It would sure help me salvage this computer.

Thanks,

Hi,

Thanks for your quick response. I'm not sure what I have is
either. I have put up on a scractch website these photos. I was told
this was the Omnimon XL upgrade. But it definitely has more than
three wires connected on the board. Could it include the Ramrod XL
upgrade too? Let me know what you think it is.

Hi Jason,

This was a ebay purchase a couple days ago. I should be getting my
hands on it Thursday.

Seems like some wires go through a ground hole to the other side.
I've got some time this weekend to investigate further. Still might
need a pic of your setup. I'll let you know what I find out.

I concur with Jason on the added triple OS mod but can also add that
someone is in the middle of a extended ram upgrade on this machine as
well. I can see pins 11, 15 and 16 lifted on your PIA which are
PortB's bit 1, bit 5 and bit 6 respectively so that's an extended
memory mod to be sure. Plus you are missing the ramdisk memory chips
probably to be replaced by 256k chips or ??? I don't know right off
which memory upgrade this might be or if it's wired right to begin
with. Sadly, my guess is it's a botched job considering it never got
finished.

I can see one stacked glue logic chip to be a 74LS32 but what is the
other one? And where are the loose wires? Perhaps just from a
description of the connected end, someone could figure out where it's
supposed to go.
