Right, multitasker, not memory capture. I believe it didn't
allow multiprograms to be running at once, it just took a
'snapshot' of memory and alternated which program would
be running in the foreground.
I heard you could download while playing a game, etc. The CoCo can do
that, Commodore could but doesn't, Atari should but might not.
I believe it required 256 or 128k, so no 800.
I haven't heard from the guy yet, so I might end up getting a 130XE.
Most A8 'word processors' didn't have spell check.
Are you serious!? Most CoCo & Commodore word processors do. Does
AtariWriter? I'm pretty shure Paper Clip did.
Today's 'word processor' eg. MS Word are desktop publishing and more features.
You seem to be thinking the A8 will do what MS Word will do, with a GUI and
mouse. Maybe Garrahty's software and a ST mouse will do some.
Why not? GeoWrite for the Commodore 64/128 does. Max-10 for the CoCo 3
does. The Atari 800 is a much better machine than the C=64, so why
shouldn't it have better software? Why shouldn't I expect the 130XE to
be at least as good as the C=128 and CoCo 3? They both run
multi-program windowing environments, graphical user interfaces, and
mouse-based software.
Every time I ask a question on comp.sys.atari.8bit, if I get an answer,
it's vague, incomplete, inaccurate, or just "I don't know but I don't
think so". What happened to all the nerds, experts, and programmers
from the Atari world? did they all go to another newsgroup or something?
