I would say stop by www.atarimax.com and get a SIO2PC cable. That is what
I suggest to anyone just starting out. With that you will have access to
literally thousands of disk images. And with that setup you can access the
internet with your 8-bit Atari to the internet through the Pc.
Good stuff. And then you can naturally add more from there at a leasurely
rate. But yeh, SIO2PC cable and the APE software he offers there.

Hello,
I'm an avid 8-bit computer collector and have picked up a couple of
Atari 800's on eBay. The first is an original 800, but it did not come
with a BASIC cart. The second is an 800XL, but it did not come with a
power supply. I have also purchased a 1050 disk drive, but it did not
come with any DOS diskettes.
I have a couple of games that were on back sides of C64 software, and
they both boot and play fine on the standard 800.
Can anyone recommend a website for getting started in collecting and
using this stuff? Where can I get an RS-232 interface and term
software? Is there any PC software for writing Atari disks, or for
using the 1050 disk drive hooked up to the PC like x1541 cables allow
using Commodore disk drives on a PC?
Any and all information is greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Payton Byrd
