Run the diagnostic program in the Happy software rev. 7. It might work
with older version, I dont know for sure. But just in case use 7.0 or 7.1.
Select the option to test RAM and ROM, I think its called Enhancement
diagnostic or something like that.
After the ROM test, there is a word that shows all in uppercase if you
have the newer ROM, or capitalized if you have the older one. I dont
remember if the word is ROM (Rom), PASS (Pass), or TEST (Test). But this
is described in the rev. 7 software manual. I will look it up if you dont
have it.
As a last resort just try using an older Sparta Dos version without enable
U.S. emulation. If you get the Ultra speed, then you know you have the
newer ROM. Note that newer versions of Sparta, like Sparta DosX have a
driver specific for the Happy that enables U.S. emulation. So you must use
Sparta 1 or 2 for this test. And make sure you power-cycled the drive
before the test, otherwise your drive might have been already programmed
with the U.S. emulation
