Actually, it appears to be zipped zip file, lacking an

p.s. The issue I encountered with the nested zip file not working
if it was extracted turned out to be pilot error. I just had to
download the file (with IE), unzip the extensionless file (with
WinRAR), rename it with a .zip extension, and then unzip that file
(agian, with WinRAR) to get at the images. Worked great.
I encountered this too when downloading some demo disks from WITA2GS and
we had a discussion about it here a while ago. I came to the conclusion
that it must be a problem with a server setting and/or a bug in IE that
is getting the server to gzip the file before sending it. IE doesn't
ungzip it and just saves the gzipped file to disk with no extension.
This is a feature that has been added to reduce transfer times of data
from the server to the client but it apparently isn't being implemented
correctly by IE and this has bit me a few times. I believe the first
time was when downloading some Multi Disk Catalog (MDC) files from Andy
McFadden's site. I used IE's "Save Target As..." option to downloaded
text files and couldn't open them in any text editor only to find later
that they were gzipped and once I unpacked them, they were fine.
