I imagine that can end up working against them, since electronics
don't improve with disuse, and collector's value is affected by
whether the item is in working order.
In consequence lots of these parts are lost to the community
- sometimes forever. Nobody will scan the docs, make images
from the disks, make photograph from the cards or even try
to reverse-engineer the hardware to design a modern variant.
That's what I fear whenever I see a listing for a big batch of docs or
disks. It makes me want to snap them up myself and process them
properly, but the closing prices often steer me away. :(
