So far it's been pretty cool to mess with.
If you can find a //e enhancement kit, it contains everything you need (i.e. 65C02 and updated ROMs) - however, these are pretty hard to come by these days. They do occasionally appear on eBay though.
For a *very* good price, you can still buy brand new 65C02 chips from Western Design Center:

Combine the above with three EPROM chips containing copies of the updated ROMs, and you'll be running an enhanced //e.
