Re: Super Hires Image Library

Thanks. But it is actually more than this - I am capturing this on
Sweet16 (which is a 640x400 image), save as PICT, and the software
will scale down to 320x200 and automatically save to JPEG. I can't see
any perceived differences between the original and the one appeared on
web, as this is fine since the pictures here basically shows people
what GS can do, and it is close to 100% the original images.

What he means is that though the JPEG may *look* the same, the
pixels do not have the same values that they had (except for 4-bit
to 8-bit conversion) on the IIgs.

GIF is perfectly oriented to compressing pictures originally in
a 256-entry or less palette. The compression does not produce
any data loss for such images, and tends to be quite space-
efficient as well.

The original image - untouch - is not on the web site, but in
VirtualGS.zip.

Here's a tip: when you include screen shots or graphics from the IIGS,
save them in GIF format, NOT JPG! By saving them as JPG, you're adding
compression artifacts. By saving as a GIF, you're getting the image
exactly how it appeared on the IIGS.
