I am still progressing on the TML Pascal manual translation, but I
need some help from somebody who has access to the IIgs Toolbox
reference. There is a table within the manual that lists all of the
tools available to TML Pascal II and whether or not the tool in
question resides in ROM or as a file based tool. As this was posted as
a web page, the table lost its formatting and it is impossible to
determine whether each tool is ROM based or file based (loaded into
RAM). Could someone please indicate on the following list which is a
ROM tool and which is a file based tool? How about using an 'R' for
ROM based tools and an 'F' for file based tools?
That could get kind of messy. Depending on what operating system you
are using (System 1.0 up to System 6.0.1) some of the tools will be
completely ROM for some versions and partly ROM based and partly RAM
based in other versions. Some will be completely RAM based as they were
released after the ROM 3 was released but it could get pretty
convoluted.
I'm not even sure why you would need to know this as I assume that TML
Pascal will take care of making sure any tools needed are loaded and
initialized if you use them in your programs. I suppose you might want
to know how much extra RAM will be used by any tools that you load but
like I said above, that can vary with operating system version.

Jeff,
I probably should have specified that the TML Pascal II manual states
that it will only work on versions of GS/OS greater than version 5.0.
The manual also seems to be concerned with the ROM01 IIgs - maybe it
was written prior to the ROM03 coming out, or prior to the author
getting his hands on a ROM03? I know the version of TML Pascal II that
I have was released in 1989 the same year as the ROM03.
Anyhow, if the above info is still not definitive enough, or as you
say, not really important, then I might just discard that information
from the table. It was probably only for informational purposes rather
than any direct effects on the TML Pascal II compiler.
Oh well, back to the translation.... :-)
cheers,
