Michael, thanks for the disk repair tips. I remember as a kid that my
version of "Norton Disk Doctor" was to rotate the media and
**CAREFULLY** blow off dust and dirt making sure I wouldn't spray
saliva onto the media in the process. Used to have a pretty high
success rate with that one. Is windex/ammonia safe on magnetic media??
Would denatured alcohol be better? (it's what you use for cleaning
heads...)
Well, the airheart "hot rod" cracked version is 100% playable all the
way thru the ending. I've beaten it before in an emulator. So the
only reason i'm bummed is that I have an original disk and I have to
resort to playing a pirated copy. Then again, this //c drive seems to
be picky about what it reads -- I might have better luck with the //e
drive (it's read floppies that this //c cannot seem to -- and it has a
HARD DRIVE attached ;-) Jesus, it would be great if I could get the
specturm holobyte Tetris disk to boot as well!!
I think ultimately it might be very rad to have a nibble copier in
prodos that can generate a .dsk or .nib image file directly. Surely
someone did this already? Copy ][+ only goes from one disk to another.
:-/ There's a ton of dos 3.3 based tools out there (locksmith was my
old fav) but those were also solely disk-to-disk.
