Re: Problems Transferring Disks With ADT

Tom,

you really don't need to fiddle with anything in the control panel when
you are using Windows 2K or XP (but also 98!) so I don't know what the guy
really meant (your serial ports should be perfectly functional). The ADT PC
side sets the port according to your selection - the important thing is that
the port is there and working - similarly you need to set ADT A2 side. I set
mine up so that I boot from Drive 1 with my ADT transfer disk and use Drive
2 always as target or source.

Try downloading the latest ADT2005 which works flawlessly for me @ 115K
all the time to and from the PC. I have transferred dozens of images to my
Apple II (unenhanced) with a SSC at 115K and never had a problem. I also
transferred about a dozen back to my PC (running 2K) also without a single
problem (the only problem I had was with a long file naming bug with ADT PC
Side which got fixed soon after I posted the problem - thanks Knut!). I made
my own Null modem cable as per txt indications and it's pretty long too
(over 6 feet):

You can get the fixed ADT2005 here from Knut's site (should be also on
asimov by now):

So I'm trying to make disk images from my 5.25" Apple II floppy disks with
ADT 1.23, but I'm having trouble making the disk images.

Equipment:
Apple IIe (enhanced) w/SSC
Windows 2000 PC

I have tried using a null modem and straight through cable (with the
corresponding settings on the SSC), and 300 and 19200 baud. I can
sucessfully send data and disk images to the Apple II -- but when I try
and
send a disk image from the Apple II to the Windows machine, ADT reports
"Track $00, sector $F: bad CRC".

I've tried using different floppy disks, as well as different cables and
transfer speeds. I have also tried turning off the "use checksums" setting
in ADT on the Apple II. In all cases, sending data to the Apple II works,
but I get "bad CRC" when receiving.

I Googled and found someone that said "changing the port settings in the
windows control panel" fixed this problem -- but I don't see any settings
in
the Windows control panel that would relate to this...

I really can't think of anything else to try. Thanks in advance for any
help.

Tom
