Appletalk

Okay, I'm still getting nowhere fast. :-(
I removed all the Appleshare and Appletalk stuff I put on the Rom 03
manually and ran the installer to do it instead.
Nothing was installed. It seemed to be doing a lot of copying but when I
rebooted and checked all the System folders, there was nothing installed.
Anyone else have any suggestions?
Attemping to run Appletalk manually using the Start program included in
the Appletalk folder (this is prior to my removing everthing manually),
another error message popped up:
"Appleshare has not been installed or not enabled. Please enable
Appletalk through the Control Panel and install Appleshare. Press return
to reboot".
I press return and it goes to another message:
"Appleshare.FST requires Appleshare. Please enable Appletalk in the
Control panel, and install Appleshare on the boot disk and restart
system."
How do you turn Appletalk on via the Control Panel? There is nothing
there except for Slots which I have Appletalk selected in Slot 1. There
are no other options to select in the Control Panels. What are they
talking about?
Using the installer, nothing gets installed and my system is as clean as
it was prior to my running the installer.
I can see why no one I ever knew in the Apple II world (including everyone
in our user group) has ever gotten Appletalk and Appleshare to run.
Those that offered me advice later confessed that they have never run it
themselves but assumed they knew how it worked.
Has anyone ever gotten this stuff to work? How did you do it? A
step-by-step guide would be nice.
Thanks.
