Question: Laser 128 lcd switch on/off bottom case workaround?

saw on the bottom of a laser ap2c laptop clone i have a switch that
says.....slide switch on bottom... w/LCD screen w/o lcd
or some such

now...my question is .....we know that the LCD screens for apple //c's (CVUE
etc) at the time were kinda special in that apple did not do what was
expected i've heard so that common lcd laptop screens that might work ...do
not...something about mhz or refresh rate or some such...

did the laser use the same format and have the same kinks as the orig ap2c
or would a LCD on a laser...be able to use some kludge old laptop screen
from back in the day off an old ibm pc or some such and be clearer etc and
be a work around from some of the complaints i've heard here about not being
able to read 80col text on a newer lcd or whatever (better minds then me
know how the discussions work)

lastly , assuming that the laser did do something more mainstream on how it
did video to an lcd screen (hence the switch?) could someone look at one and
make a work around that might do the same for a apple //c reg apple unit

i don't myself have much need for any of this but it pop'd in my head so i
figured i'd toss my ramblings on here (be gentle i really don't know what
i'm talking about ...just saw the lcd switch and thought maybe it was
something somebody may want to look at (or already has..or lcd works same on
laser as //c and switch is just a simple monitor/to lcd switch (ie both
hitched up ) and you just pop the switch between them for transport or not

anyway.....thats all i got
