I'd expect the problem to be what "slot 7, drive 1" means.
The last thing you want is "transparent" switching between
hard disks in the same slot. If switching is manual, then
the disks could not be used together--not particularly
useful.
end guote
so...supposedly...if (i'm closing in on the rubbermaid stack area with the
proslot inside)...i get the jpg out to
you all..and assuming it is an easy clone..which i would expect...and
someday it got made..maybe...my next question is
(prob dumb)
but say i have my 2 cffa 256mb cards in slot 7....both plug'ed into my newly
cloned proslot beasty....could i have
a toggle switch (manual) to the back of the unit to switch between cards on
that proslot (theory at least doubt i'd do such)
or at least a little 2 prong plug (like for apple ii speaker) that you could
open/or close like people use on a hd to diff between
master and slave...i assume that is what you mean by manual rather then
transparent....or options to setup the card to do either
manaul/transparent....add a toggle switch (like you could with the rom char
generator deally you all make..or just leave it manual
either or like you also have setup on that setup...)
anyway you get my drift
of course..this is theory and me trying to hash out what manual means...but
ARE there cards that come to mind that could figure out
slot 7 stuff "transparently" or would it have to be manual (either or and/or
switched like above) to work at all
again..the modified apple //e DAPPLE SYSTEMS made for the electron
microscope has a dapple image card (one of 2) in the proslot
card in slot 7 and also a mousecard apple brand....and no switches are
evident and i assume it is somehow using both...of course this unit
also has dapple on the eproms on these 2 vision cards and a dapple labeled
rom on the //e acclerator and had jumper wires bouncing all over the
motherboard...so the proslot in this case maybe so specialized by
software/hardware to somehow know about the 2 card arrangement in slot7..
anyway...that is the only other clue i have a vision (i assume slot 3 type
video use type of card normally..sorta) and the mousecard in the proslot in
7...
with no obviouse (mechanical) switch setup between such..ie...with mods they
may have gotten around it all with there setup and actually use an extra
slot
well ..sorry for the rambling ..but to tell you the truth when i look at the
dapple //e it really does scream mad scientist all over the place...(that
and the fact
i boot up the software it calc type graphs etc spring up....very
impressive..but then they went for 15,000.00 back in the day as an add on to
your electron microscope you had laying around..so i suppose it had better
look impressive as hell when you booted it up
anyway...just some vague info in regards to how/where the proslot is and
what is in it etc
i'll try to get to the area where it is at in the bsmt and get a .jpg
on another note
in a prev msg here bill g. said there was a 'cf adaptor to ide' i found the
site very nice....for 15 bucks i could plug a 20mb flash card into that
vulcan controller i have laying about..and get it to work for the heck of it
my question is is there such a thing as a 'ide to scsi' connector? i assume
there are 'scsi to flashcard connectors as well?" or is this just an ide
kinda setup?
just curious
