rebranded Seagates as well), connected through an 80-pin-to-50-pin adapter.
I have such an adapter, though I don't know that that necessarily means the
high byte is floating. I would think the adapter would terminate the unused
lines...all it would take is a resistor pack, and those are so cheap that I
can't imagine the adapter manufacturer would leave it out.
The adapters I have here are just that. The high-byte lines on the 68-pin side are no-connects without termination. I had to spend a bit more $$ to get a "real" terminating adapter. As I recall (this was last fall), there were a number of possible issues with implementing a wide-guest / narrow-host connection - at least according to the adapter vendor :-).
